Ever dream of meeting a gorgeous, brilliant prince? Montrealer Anna Debratto, while on vacation in the Himalayas, finds herself charmed, wined and dined by Dev. Little does she know that the handsome man has royal connections.******************************************************She stole a sidelong glance at the man who stood beside her. He hung on to the iron bus bar and swayed gracefully, swerving with the lurching motions of the bus, riding them almost as if he were surfing waves in a turbulent sea. He bore the poise and grace of the local Indians. He stood taller than most on the bus-about 5 feet 11 inches-and was clean-shaven. Dark haired, he had an aquiline nose, high cheekbones, and wide-set eyes. His large eyes, set off by thick eyelashes, were grayish-green, unusual in India. Perhaps, she mused, he's a descendant of the British. She knew they had, a long time ago, flocked to their Himalayan summerhouses to cool off from the unbearable Indian summer heat further south. Or he might be a descendant of one of Alexander the Great's soldiers ... Her imagination drifted. She had read somewhere that Macedonian and Greek soldiers had settled in northern India. They'd grown sick of Alexander the Great's unending battles. I'm tired, too, of war, she thought. The Himalayas were the perfect place for her to recoup after her stressful job in the Middle East as a UN staffer. The bus chugged along a steep section of the road and hit a pothole. The man ducked to avoid hitting the ceiling of the bus. "Why don't you share the seat?" Anna asked, breaking the silence. "Thank you," he smiled and slid down. He positioned himself on the edge of the seat so that his body didn't touch hers in the cramped seat; he was halfway into the aisle. He smelled of pine-scented aftershave. From the corner of her eye, she took in his stylish clothes: black jeans and a gray sports shirt. "Are you from around here?" she asked. "My family lives in Naggar-the old castle town before Manali. But I've been working in New Delhi for the last five years in an I.T. company. I'm headed north for a two-week holiday to see my elderly parents. And you? Which country do you come from?" She tapped the bright red, maple leaf pin on the lapel of her shirt. "Canada. I grew up in Montreal, Quebec. I'm Anna. Anna Debratto."
