About the approach of the images: My academic background is in documentary photography and journalism since 1995. After 10 years of journey I began to venture into artistic disciplines such as expressionist and abstract painting, combined with experimental drawing, object art and digital media. Upon my return to still images with a camera, I decided to follow the editorial line that was born as the antithesis of the "Decisive Instant", developed by Henri Cartier-Bresson. My main references in photography are Robert Frank, Bernard Plossu, Ralph Gibson, Rinko Kawauchi, Joao Castilho, Tina Modotti, Manuel ?lvarez Bravo, among many other photographers, but it also influences my way of telling and visually interpreting, the abstract and expressionist school of the great painters of history. My style and photographic language, breaks with the historical and unquestionable social function of documentary photography, which is to give an objective vision of the world, which is never possible from my point of view. Contrary to Bresson, my photographic images are of accidental eternity, multiple universes that converge in different actors and environments. Scenarios that function as concave and convex mirrors that show us our personal interpretations and allusions to the deductions of what we see.The images were taken with an analogous camera, silver negative on gelatin. In this edition they are presented in diptych, positive, negative and inverted. This work is the result of a project elaborated with my own hands, I do not refer only to the photographic taking, but to the preparation of the chemicals and the whole process of developing and printing contact sheets inside the darkroom. The magical experience of being in the laboratory is enigmatic, the alchemy of a magician who reveals and unveils stories of personalities and illusory places. These photographs are open to interpretation, free compositions and with bursting grain due to the forced taking and developing. They are abstract images to imagine, to associate ideas and to navigate in the infinite of the memory, doing diverse complex analyses, of the characters and environments that were photographed, personal conclusions that motivate the intellect to initiate mental processes outside the reality, not only of the figure, but of the space and time. This project is developed during an academic stay at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in NY, where I deepened on the theory, symbolism and semiotics of portraiture and photographic vision.I am deeply grateful to my colleagues and friends with whom I shared the realization of this work.
