This twelve-lesson group or self-study series on Introduction to the Bible is part of an overall collection of 61 lessons that cover many of the fundamental Christian teachings and beliefs in a topical or thematic sense. It assumes no prior knowledge of the Bible or any specific religious background. It does assume that the participant has an interest in learning these important Biblical, historical, and doctrinal truths in order to grow in their faith. I call it a Bible literacy study guide because it provides a baseline literacy on these topics. It was designed to be a well-rounded study covering Christian doctrine, history, apologetics and practical life. Some of the topics are sequential in nature and will cover a period of several studies (i.e. church history studies). This is an ongoing project that is updated when necessary. These study guides are suitable for small groups, Sunday-school classes, or personal enrichment. There is a need for these fundamental biblical and historical teachings in the church today. They complement the study of the Bible text by providing an overall view of the subject. New believers need to understand and learn many of these basic teachings before they can properly understand exegetical/ expository studies. Many seasoned believers in the body may also lack the teaching in these areas and would benefit from them.
