Crime began with the birth of mankind and could be viewed as a game between the forces of law and order and those that for whatever reason have chosen to cross the line. But who are the players? Froome tries throughout to keep a secret from Abbot, his superior officer, believing that he would not have the man's support, and ultimately both are put to the test.
