For over 2000 years the Church has existed. It was built by Jesus Christ and was born on the Day of Pentecost. Since its beginning it has exhibited a remarkable influence upon society, life and times of humanity and history of the world. It has been both loved and hated; applauded and persecuted; openly seen and also hidden from public view. It has met in homes, in cathedrals, in store-fronts, in church buildings, in battle bunkers, in barns, tents, dormitory rooms and hospitals. It may meet under trees and in open fields-anywhere people can gather to worship, praise, fellowship and study the Word of God. And always there is this promise of Jesus, that no matter where or how many, "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst" (Matthew 18:20).
