Madness in Monrovia: A Memoir

$13.36

A sizzling saga set in Lagos, Madras, and Monrovia, detailing the life of a starry-eyed young man who abandoned a promising carrier in the civil service in quest of social mobility - a quest that impelled him from Lagos to Madras in 1981. Soon, torn between Madras and Lagos amidst the crushing effect of the economic depression of those days, the pull of love gained the upper hand. He returned to the love of his life six months later to face an uncertain future and the onerous task of raising a family without work and money. The hustle for survival propelled him to Monrovia, in the late eighties. What began as a brief visit was eventually to last for thirty months, until the bloody Liberian civil war pulled the shutters on that system of things, with him ending up as a refugee in Conakry. Madness in Monrovia is the story about all the things that happened before, later and in between.
