Terry Salzman, a philanthropist from Petaluma, California, has died, but this is only the beginning for him. At the beginning of the From Night On series, Terry was there. He was the first of the undead to return from the grave. He came back with them, but he's not one of them. After leaving his friend, Les, in Oaxaca, Mexico, in From Night On: Awakenings, his journey is joined by his father, Mike, and an unlikely companion, Shei, whom they met after taking refuge with the Winnemem Wintu tribe near Mount Shasta, California. Unfortunately, that refuge was short lived as The Dark Man learns of Terry's existence. Constantly on the run, Terry learns of the ancient pieces of a weapon capable of killing the enemy on their heels and that only he and two others are capable of retrieving these pieces. The first he finds at the base of Mount Shasta by sheer chance, but the other six pieces are scattered to the six other continents without any clues as to where they lie in the vast terrains.Along this journey, he learns that he was chosen by a being, from before the time of the old religions, to take up his place on this earth, but Terry must overcome his own demons while fighting real ones. Riddled by regret and a history of drug abuse, Terry struggles with the pains of past self-induced traumas and a rage from recent losses. He struggles to see past his own demons and accept that he is a hero. This, in the spirit of the From Night On series, is another adventure through the world's geography, cultures, religions, myths, and legends. They fight the Cadejo in Panama and guerrillas in Colombia; find ancient ruins in Mount Shasta and Ecuador; and fly all the way to Scotland to meet thousand year old Highlanders and an ancient, colossal guardian that lied asleep for millennia. Terry's story promises an unforgettable adventure, but cannot promise an unbroken heart.
