About 20 years ago, a friend who was a Christian writer told me about a website just getting started that was looking for Christian stories. So, I wrote some and got them published. Because of our work with Wycliffe Bible Translators, we lived in Papua New Guinea; the Philippines; Darwin, Australia; Dallas, Texas; and Calgary, Alberta. All of those places provided the setting for my stories. Later they were published in 13 anthologies, gift books, and magazines. Some also floated around the internet for years. I have gathered them all together in one book-Holding on to Hope-for my family and friends. I just finished reading your book-it's fantastic, Janet! The stories were so varied-in location, timing, content-in every way. Sometimes you spoke of family, other times about your writing experiences, and other times just about people. Always the Lord was honored, even in the times of deepest grief or great loss, or bewilderment, or major illness or death, or facing end of life alone with inadequate funds. I really liked it, Janet, and hope you keep writing. I saw your heart, and your mind was stayed on Him through incredibly difficult circumstances; the story rings with authenticity. -Dr. Laura Mae Gardner, leader of Wycliffe's Counseling Department and developer of member care, retired. Author: Healthy, Resilient and Effective in Cross-Cultural Ministry.Janet's easy story-telling style makes it easy to join her on a lifelong adventure. Instead of letting bitterness brew, she chose to make coffee. Cheering for Chuck led to a habit. Discover with Janet how to hold onto hope when illness, natural disasters, cross-cultural challenges and children's needs all demand response. -Pat Gerbrandt, freelance writer and editor
