The Rail Lines poetry project was born first out of shock and surprise, then outrage and betrayal, and finally, sadness. It was a response by writers and poets to an announcement on a February day in 2017 that blindsided residents of Hamilton County, Indiana, surrounding communities, and all those who love trains and railroads. Poets and writers who value railroads, trains, and the historical museums that preserve them took to their pens, typewriters, and keyboards. That is what writers do when they feel strongly about something. Their written lines-which we are calling Rail Lines-are published here.
