Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī, also known as Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhī, and more popularly simply as Rumi, a thirteenth-century Persian poet whose works has helped the spiritual journeys of lots of people, in the likes of other celebrities like Tilda Swinton, Madonna -some of whom similarly incorporated his work into theirs. He is typically referred to as a mystic, a saint, a Sufi, an enlightened man. Curiously, however, although he was a lifelong scholar of the Koran and Islam, he is less frequently described as a Muslim.
