With just seventy words in English and taking less than a minute to recite, the Lord's Prayer, nevetheless, is the most frequently recited prayer in Christianity. Taught by Jesus to his disciples, it provides a pattern for Christian prayer. Early in Christian history, the Didache instructed that the Prayer should be recited three times each day. Since then, the Lord's Prayer has been a standard component in Christian liturgy and devotion.
