Copper Penny is upset because it is Saturday morning and her usually very dependable sales associate, Monica, has not yet shown up for work at the BookNook. No one has seen or heard from Monica since she left a bridal shower for her best friend the night before to walk the half block or so to her apartment. Then her boyfriend is discovered unconscious, and with a broken leg and shattered kneecap, in the woods near his home.
