I was completely shocked. I had seen them together for six months and I had come to terms with their relationship completely. You didn't say anything, you were just there for me."She stood up and kissed me on the forehead before going to Maria's house, taking her hand and pulling her into the kitchen. I couldn't make out what they were saying in hushed voices, but when they came out, Maria just smiled and said, "I'm happy for you... for you both.I noticed that it was now completely dark outside and I was hungry. Sharon must have thought the same thing, because she asked Maria if she wanted to order a pizza with us. Maria, who was always polite, said she didn't want to impose, but we convinced her that we wanted her to hang out with us. I was very grateful that with everything that Sharon had gone through, with all the changes in her life, Maria was always there for her.When the pizza came, we sat together and ate. We talked about how things were going for Maria, what Sharon would do in the music program in the future and what I had been working on at work.It was amazing for me how quickly my whole life could change. Within a few hours I had gone from absolute desperation to sitting with Sharon by my side and having a normal conversation as never before in the last two years.I was starting to get up, a little sore from sleeping on the couch. I grabbed my keys and wallet from the table, and Sharon got up to say goodbye to me at the door. She hugged me and then put her chin on my chest and looked up with her beautiful eyes. I gave her a quick kiss on the lips and then kissed her forehead."Jimmie, bring everything you need for the week. I don't want to spend a night without you."
