I was inspired to publish my poems by my 9 years old son Ian. On May 22, 2020, at the kitchen table Ian wrote his first poem. I was amazed by his deep thinking. I knew that Ian was three in one: an artist, a scientist, and an engineer. A genius in a small body, waiting for the world to discover him. Couple days later, I sent Ian's first poem to my ex-wife (Ian's mother) and to Ian's teachers at school. Everybody was astonished, including myself of course. I would like my son to continue to express himself through poetry; therefore, I had to lead by example and publish poems that I have written in English and Polish languages between 1994 and 2020. But, before we move on to my writings, here is my son's first poem entitled "Nothing": NOTHING Nothing is nothing. Nothing is there. If nothing is nothing. If nothing is there. What's the nothing that isn't there? By: Ian A. van der Vant, age 9. About Ian's Daddy: At about 5:30 AM, on March 5, Artur R. Stanowski was born in Poland. He lived in a small town of Środa Śląska located in the Lower Silesia Region. His mother Joanna Krynicka came from a small village called Banica located in southern Poland, close to the border with Slovakia. His father Jerzy was born in a farming community near Poznań. At the age of 15 years old Artur relocated to Wroclaw, Poland to attend the Science Institute of Aviation. At the age of 18, he permanently emigrated to Chicago, USA. In March of 1992 Artur changed his name to Arthur R. van der Vant when he was naturalized as an American citizen. Even though Artur experienced his first love in Poland at the age of 16, it was not until the age of 19 years old when Arthur experienced the true and unconditional love. It happened during his near-death, out-of-body experience, when he went to the light, after a head-on car collision. See page number 146 of the book for more details. I have dedicated this book to my son Ian, and that is why I published it on the Father's Day. I love you Ian.
