Just Going Through The Motions

Can someone discern any difference between you and the un-Christian-like people around you? I mean, if you are a Christian, then are Just Going Through the Motions with society or are you counter-cultural with your attitude and behaviors trying to stand out from the mainstream crowd? My hope is that you are atypical of the norm. After all, most people will agree that the world is growing ever colder and ever so sinful. Because of these truths, I believe it's time for we believers in Christ to quit Just Going Through the Motions and to start to imitate Christ's actions by seeking to stand out just as He did. For Jesus was counter-cultured in His ways in an effort not to fit in with this world.

The goal of this book is to teach that we as believers don't have to just fit into "the system" and how we should think of this world around us. We live in an egotistical, narcissistic generation. Our culture is obsessed with self-esteem, self-love, self-fulfillment, and every other conceivable kind of selfish pursuit. People relentlessly promote themselves, praise themselves, and put their own agenda ahead of everyone and everything else around them. This is not the kind of person Jesus wants us to be. It's certainly not the example He set for us to follow.
