What youth ministry is not: Uncovering our misconceptions in youth ministry

I sat with group of Pastors who were concern about why their Youth Ministries are struggling and not effective. As they narrated their frustration, i realized that they were honest about knowing where they have missed it. their eagerness to know the cause of their youth ministry ineffectiveness motivated to me write this book. the book is writing out my many years of youth ministry work and experiences i have gotten. firstly i got saved from the evangelistic effort of a vibrant youth ministry in the Assembly of God Church . I was nurtured and discipled by youth and adults in the same church. This church taught me how to win my friends for Christ. growing up, i have worked with youth ministries, youth organizations in Liberia and Africa, i have seen why most youth ministries are not effective as compare to the ministry i got saved in, in the early 90s. besides i have served in various capacity as Youth Pastor, Youth Mentor, Youth Coach, Youth trainer, National and African Director of a youth organization that is changing young people. i know why youth ministry struggle. i know where we missed it and how we can redefine the ministry for health and impact. over the years i have realized that youth ministry failure is due to number of reasons including: wrong concept of the ministry, lack of train leaders, lack of passion, lack of understanding what youth ministry is, lack of understanding the times, and etc. This book deeds with wrong concepts that we have of the ministry. We enlighten our readers of what youth ministry is NOT. it is the first book in the series of several books on the subject of youth ministry. This will prepare youth for our other book titled "WHAT YOUTH MINISTRY IS"as a sequel to this. i am endeavoring to change your concept because our concept of the ministry determines our youth ministry methodology and practices. This book is not just meant to fill us with head knowledge but to create a positive response and change of the way we have done youth ministry over the years.
