Intermittent fasting involves alternating cycles of eating and fasting, which may range anywhere from a couple of hours to several days per cycle. In a sense, intermittent fasting - or intermittent fasting, as it's popularly called by those who are supposedly "in the know" - may be considered as a time-restricted eating regimen because, in most of the popular versions or protocols of IF, intermittent faster get to eat every day, albeit within a specific and limited window of time only. Compared to "regular" eating, where food is eaten throughout different times of the day, people who fast intermittently only get to eat within a specific number of hours during the day and for the most part of the remaining 24 hours, they fast. The length of the daily fast and the time of the day and night in which eating is allowed will depend on the intermittent fasting variety or protocol chosen.
