Life seems so complex especially when viewed in the light of personality development. We as spiritual and social beings fight the complexities within, trying to keep both sides satisfied and whole. We hang on to the edge of insanity at times endeavoring to find a simple answer to wholeness and wellness. In this book we will explore three Biblical characters, Moses, Elijah, and John, who started life in total disarray, but ended as whole, holistic, entities at peace with themselves and at peace with God. In the Bible, as we endeavor to follow the teachings of Jesus, with his command to Love God and Love Man, we find ourselves at a loss at how to conquer both and then love ourselves as well. It all begins with loving God, but in the process through the revelation of knowing and loving God, we find that inwardly we are being transformed to love man and to love self. Moses, the outsider, who was filled with anger comes to the point where his hostility turns to humility and he is noted in the Bible in the book of Numbers as being the most humble man that ever lived. How could this be? He was a murderer, a workaholic, a wayward father, and a angry brother. He hated the very people he was asked to lead out of Egypt, but something happened as he grew nearer to God and his presence. He learn to live the commandment in real terms of loving God and loving others. Elijah as well is so maladjusted that in the midst of great life successes he is pulled into that "dark night of the soul" and becomes suicidal. Again, he too, in his face to face encounter with God comes aware of his weaknesses and makes a change in his soul that enabled him to become the very man, the prophet, God called him to be. John, the "beloved disciple," is so sure of his greatness and holiness that it takes a move to a deserted island, an island where only criminals reside, to see his need for a savior and a friend. Each character studied in this book brings their own set of faults and hangups, but with the revelation of God and his character, each start to take on the same nature and ultimately end in good mental, social, and spiritual health and well-being. You will find that you too will see the same factors limiting your ability to be whole, but will find there are answers in a new view of who God is and how he can work in your life as well. So come and explore as Moses goes from hostility to humility, Elijah from depression to deliverance, and John from arrogance to authenticity. It could possibly change your life both now and in the eternal life to come.
