Marriage Is Ministry: Interceding For Him as He Leads and Covering Her as she Follows

Today, my wife and I celebrated 12 years of marriage. Over dinner, we talked about the journey the Lord has taken us on together, what we enjoy about each other and how our marriage has made each of us better. Our marriage is not perfect; it is healthy and I am so grateful for Ebony and the time we have been given to enjoy each other and serve alongside one another. I don't want only to be a "great Christian" or a "great pastor," but I long to be a "great husband." As we talked, I contemplated what we have been through and how we need to live by example and share our story with other married couples. I long to be a great wife, but I also want to help other women become great wives. As my husband said, we aren't perfect, but we strive to get better. We strive to serve and love each other. Marriage is a sacred connection between a man and a woman. It is taking two different people with two different lives and bringing them together. This book shares what my husband I have done to have a thriving marriage. People see where we are, but they don't know how we got here. Every couple has issues, and I just want to share some of ours in hopes of reconciling marriages, equipping couples with what worked for us and helping others before they enter into marriage.Whether you are single, engaged or married, we want to share our experiences with you. Real. Transparent. And provide you with the steps we used to make sure that our marriage aligns with how God created it. At the beginning of the marriage, mostly considered the honeymoon phase, everyone is eager and excited. There are butterflies and affection. But what happens after you say, "I do." What do you do when life happens? After the honeymoon, most couples rush back to their lives and things can get overwhelming. It's not easy to make priority every single day, but aside from God, husbands and wives must sacrifice and surrender to become one. We had come to realize that when God brought us together, we were two very broken people. God used our mess and brought us together in our marriage. We still fall short, but we want to help other couples. Our heart and vision for this book are that you can learn and glean from our mistakes. It's not a tell-all type of book. We share pivotal moments of our life and marriage that brought us to where we are today. We have also shared things that can help restore or reconcile marriages. God's grace has restored us, even in our brokenness and darkest hour and we desire the same for you.
