Setting her on the edge of the bed, Jaxon dropped to his knees in front of her. Reaching into his jacket pocket, he pulled out a passport, flipping it open before her. Destiny gasped when she saw her face in the picture. She quickly scanned the information, Nicole Remington. Not understanding, she shook her head."Katherine brought the Officer to the house to question you. She believes you need to be committed to an institution," Jaxon grumbled. "I told them that you decided to leave me, and I set you up a bank account and had Stephen drive you to San Antonio. Right now, Miriam is accessing that account and she'll be travelling around to stay ahead of them.""Nicole . . . Remington?" Destiny squeaked."They'll be looking for Destiny Granger, not Nicole Remington," Jaxon sighed. "I told you I'd do whatever it took to assure your safety Destiny, I need you to trust me.""Where are we going?""I own a small island in the Caribbean."Destiny blinked. Overwhelmed didn't even begin to describe how she was feeling. "How long?" she stuttered."Until the group Stephen's working with takes down Big Daddy and everyone else involved," Jaxon frowned.His frown bothered her. She reached out and brushed the tips of her fingers along his cheek. "What about your business?"Closing his eyes, Jaxon drew in a deep breath. "I'll stay with you through the weekend, but I'll have to return to Dallas afterward."Before he could utter another word, Destiny shoved him away from her. "You don't want to be with me."Shock slammed through him. Quickly drawing her into his arms, his mouth crushed against hers. "Don't ever think that," he breathed against her lips. "Miss Sadie and her family will be on the island with you along with Trent. If I don't stay in Dallas, it'll look suspicious and the last thing I want to do is lead them to you."A hot rush of tears streamed down Destiny's cheeks. This was all her fault. Just when she'd finally thought she could have a happily ever after, it was being pulled away from her. Jaxon ran his hand down her hair to her shoulders, tightening his grip. "I refuse to lose you. Destiny and if this is the only way to assure your safety then it's what I'll do."When he inched back, she noticed the well of tears along his lids. "I need you to tell me you understand. That you'll stay on the island until this is cleared up and I come to bring you home."
