Filthy Bones

This collection of poetry explores fear, desire, longing, loss, and love. These poems give voice to darker things, to the parts of our brains that sill operate on nothing but raw, unfiltered emotions that rarely see the light of day. I hope you enjoy them and can find some beauty in the darkness. A Disappearing Act I asked you to devour me, put me on your tongue and swallow me, like the bitter wine you always liked to drink that stung my lips and left a red stain on everything it touched. I'll grow smaller, fingers curled against your back molars--fetal-positioned and hollow-boned like the bird we found last spring, still warm from the heat of the sun. You'll smile--lips zipped in a line-- and I'll be nothing but a tickle in the back of your throat-- deep-rooted and persistent.
