The British Settlers that came to South Africa in 1820 made a permanent impression on the country. Unlike the previous settlers that came to South Africa under the Dutch rule, the British settlers were often well educated and grew up in a country that was relatively liberal. This meant that the expectations of their government were very different from the previous settlers.
