Murder At A Seance: Miss Sadie Brown & the Death of Madam Valesky

The 2nd book in the Sadie Brown series is chock full of delightful, quirky characters. Take another crazy ride as Miss Sadie Brown becomes involved with a bizarre murder and a runaway killer. It's the summer of 1917 in the beautiful seaside community of Coronado, California. Sadie Brown, aviatrix, and newspaper columnist/reporter is investigating a simple case of a phony fortune teller which unexpectedly turns into a murder investigation. As Miss Brown and Deputy Sheriff Evan Greenway investigate, they are thrown into the dark world of a serial killer traveling between Southern California and the city of Vallejo in the San Francisco Bay Area. Along the way, they have to deal with shady hustlers taking advantage of this period in history when the world is focused on the "war to end all wars" aka WWI.

Sadie Brown is a strong female character, but she's not a sleuth. She is however frightfully nosey and will take the reader on a fun romp to discover clues to the killer's identity. Sadie's no dummy, but by the end, she'll be as surprised as you when she comes face to face with the killer.

The novel has just the right amount of fun history and humor. Readers of Louise Penny, Jacqueline Winspear, and Agatha Christie will find this a fun read.
