Joe Manning had a bright idea. The premise was to round up a bunch of over-weight people and march them around in the woods for three months and make them skinny again. It was a good idea. Except, large people are not the most energetic bunch you come across.The idea was simply to take them out into a wilderness where no one would be able to quit and go home. They all as a group would have to keep up with the guide because only he knew where the next supply of food was.The concept was self-motivating individuals. If you slowed everyone down and made them miss a meal or worse, you just might get a positive but effective urging let's say, from all the other starving participants. A real incentive to try a little harder. All the hikers have to do is walk and keep on walking with their backpacks full of everything one would need while traversing through the woods and camping long term, that is all. In exchange for doing that the prize was losing all their extra weight. A win-win for all. But this is not a plan for the lazy, unmotivated types. This is a dedicated and desirous group of people who have set their minds to lose the weight they have been carrying for far too long and want desperately to be rid of it.This story is about these trips, but on this next excursion, it comes with a twist. Only one candidate has chosen to go. A wealthy woman has had her fill with being over-weight and since no one else wanted to go on this trip has decided to pay the extra costs to get the guide to take her. No problem, right? Wrong!There is a lot more to the story, and the drama and action never stop. There is a desperate man with a lot of money to hire killers that wants the lady dead and it is up to the guide to see she makes it back to civilization alive. Enjoy the trip.
