Out of the Cocoon: Children's Stories Written by Children

Children all over the world love stories. They have been enamoured by stories from the moment they sit, look, walk, talk and explore the world. They ask questions, curious to know about the why and how of the world. They are obliged by their parents, grandparents and relatives, who do their bit, to satisfy the child's curiosity by answering in a story form. Out of the Cocoon believes that a caterpillar can fly. But first it must have a transformation. The butterfly begins life as a caterpillar, a worm like larva that spins a cocoon for itself. For weeks the larva remains hidden within the cocoon as it undergoes a metamorphosis. When it's time for the butterfly to emerge, it must struggle and fight its way out of the cocoon. We might be tempted to help the process by tearing open the cocoon - but that's the worst thing we could do. The struggle makes the butterfly stronger and enables it to fly, squeezing out the juices dry. Like a butterfly, the child should struggle on its own to come out with ideas without adult interference, which in due course the child could, in a matter of time, think out of the box. Stories, written by children, are often unexpressed emotions- unspoken words, absent smiles- coherent arrangement of alphabets that give utterance to thoughts and bring tears of joy or sadness to the eyes of the reader. We hope that the emotion expressed, in innocent words, spread like ripples on a lake and leave you touched. When a child writes in her or his own words, it evokes a strong emotion, a sense of joy. It could be a real-life experience or incident against social injustice, caste segregation, gender inequality, bullying - cyber & physical, eve teasing, dowry, tales of resistance, of daily irritants in public places, in school and outside.Out of the Cocoon is a Non-Profit voluntary organisation, registered under Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act of 2001, bearing Registration Number 373 of 2013. It has only one aim, to make children from all over the world, to express, to protest, to appreciate and to write, because tomorrow is theirs.
