How to Treat and Manage Diabetes: A comprehensive treatment and management of diabetes

Diabetes is a very serious disease that occurs when your body encounters difficulty in regulating the amount of glucose available in your blood stream. For the proper understanding of diabetes, it is necessary to first understand the role glucose plays in our body, and what can happens when our blood sugar levels become excessively low or high. The human body is made up of living tissues and cells, and the tissues and cells requires food for proper functioning. Cells feed on a type of sugar called glucose. The body's cells depends on the blood stream for the production of glucose. In the absence of adequate glucose, the body cells do not survive. The food humans eat are converted into glucose as a result of the normal digestion process. As soon as it is converted, the glucose enters the blood stream and increases the level of dissolved glucose inside the blood. The dissolved glucose is then carried by the blood stream to various tissues and cells in the body.Cells access the glucose available in the blood with the aid of a chemical hormone called insulin. Insulin allows cells to receive and properly utilize the glucose available in the blood. Insulin can be referred to as a link for glucose between the cells and blood stream. The pancreas produces, stores and releases insulin into the blood stream to regulate glucose. The amount and type of food you eat determines the concentration of glucose available in your blood stream. For example, refined carbohydrates are easy to breakdown into glucose and rises the blood glucose when consumed. In contrast, blood sugars rises slowly after consuming unrefined carbohydrates because unrefined carbohydrates are not easily broken down. The ability of the cells to make proper use of glucose lies on the insulin. When the body finds it difficult to produce insulin or the cells find it difficult to recognise the insulin, it affects the body metabolism thereby leading to diabetes. In this book, I am going to write exclusively on diabetes and also emphasizing on how to treat and manage diabetes.
