$17.31
"Grandma Gracie & Toby" is a story about a caregiver's experience raising her grandson (Toby), while his father is imprisoned. Toby's bonds with his grandmother grows even stronger when he recognizes his father's incarceration challenges and mood swings. In general, explaining parental incarceration to children can be difficult. This book is designed for caregivers to ponder how to discuss parental incarceration. This work is grounded in bibliotherapy (books for healing) and empirical research. This book is a part of a larger series designed to help caregivers discuss sensitive topics. The Author: In addition to being an author, Dr. Geoffrey Johnson served as an evaluator, auditor, and criminal investigator for several agencies and departments of the federal government. After retirement, Dr. Johnson and his spouse, (Dr. Avon Hart-Johnson) co-founded a 501c(3) non-profit organization called DC Project Connect (DCPC). This non-profit organization largely provides services on a pro bono basis to families and children affected by incarceration. This book is dedicated to the selfless caregivers who watch over children affected by parental incarceration.
