Mortal Gods: Book 1 of CLONES
The world floats, torn into a fragment of its whole, through the Milky Way. Inside the hull is the great city of Tutum Patria. It is a paradise of all the cultures and people the Earth held before it shattered. They've melded into a harmonic system of science, video games, and art. That is, underground at least.
Above the great city, is Humanity's Forest. The last green space on the surface. A surface held together by a machine that replaced the damaged core some 600 years ago. Inside Humanity's Forest live the clones of Dr. Jerald Arkin Welsh and Dr. Alana Yuler. The oldest living scientists. The only two humans who come above ground.
Outside of the forest is the reason the world is broken, the Drones. A race evolved from an experiment, human-like androids governed by a system of A.I. meant to 'fix' greedy civilizations. They started a war with humanity itself that eventually cracked the planet.
Yet, even if most were lost, humanity managed to survive. Only now, new Drones have returned, and they are the ones fighting to endure. The floating Earth is passing close to a star, and all things outside Tutum Patria's shield will burn up and wither.
The new Mother of the A.I. race, an evolved and mysterious leader sends biological evolutions to infiltrate the shield known as Latirs(male) and Satirs(female). She will end humanity to save her species.
The Mother of Drones, Dr. Jerald, and Dr. Alana battle above ground in a fight for the future of their people. But it is their soldiers, their creations, who fight for something somehow both smaller and far more important to each of them.
To prove they have a soul.
