This book is written to inspire action. It is especially addressed to African youth and young African social workers though it also speaks to many other groups. It was written to inspire a generation of Africans to believe in African methods and search more for solutions relevent to the continents condition. The author believed that if they shared their life and professional experiences it would push the reader to be more active in promoting positive African methods in all facets of their lives. Their hope is to awaken a sense of community, love and Ujamaa in everyone. It is an interesting read because there is very little literature available on the social work profession or welfare written by African social workers drawing from their experiences. Although this book has been written focusing mainly on the African context it also contains valuable lessons for the development of social work and social welfare on other continents.
