England, 1922.
When Wilfred's wife, a collector of rare and unusual books, dies under mysterious circumstances while in London, he is left to pick up the pieces of his shattered life.

His wife's death was sudden and much to his dismay, mysterious - though he's unable to get any real answers from the authorities. As he investigates, searching for clues, he begins to realize his wife may have had a secret life of which he was not aware.

After finding a strange book among her possessions, he begins to suspect that there might be a link between the book and his wife's untimely demise. But the more he seeks answers, the more his health and sanity seem to degrade.

Desperate for answers but struggling to hold on to his sanity, Wilfred realizes he needs to destroy the book, forget what has happened, and get out of London. He decides the further he gets from London and his old life, the better. Hoping to put the horrible events behind him and recover from the grief and stress of his loss he leaves England. On the advice of a friend, he retreats to a secluded hotel nestled in the Rocky Mountains - an exclusive resort known as much for its elite guests as for its healing services - The Blackstone Hotel.

But this is no ordinary hotel - although promoted as a health retreat for the rich and famous, it has a dark and murky past. Its long and sordid history, filled with fires, madness, death, and murder, has been kept well under wraps.

Originally founded by an enigmatic adventurer who discovered the breathtaking spot near a crystal-clear lake, it started out as nothing more than a cabin. Over the years it was expanded, room by room, floor by floor until eventually it became a large sprawling mansion.

When the globetrotting adventurer finally decided to retire, the house was a labyrinth of passages and secret rooms, filled with strange and sometimes occult relics from his travels around the world.

Tragically, not long after moving into the house, the owner went mad - eventually dying under curious circumstances, leaving behind a gorgeous, though isolated curiosity.

Eventually the house and its contents were purchased by the Blackstone Group - a little known investment firm located in New York. Over the years the hotel grew, almost seeming to unfold like a dark poisonous flower, and was now a luxurious, some might say decadent, structure.

As Wilfred is unpacking and getting settled in his room, he discovers that his wife's mysterious book, which he remembers burning and burying in the garden before leaving England, has somehow followed him to America and is nestled, unscathed, among his things.

As he explores the hotel and its grounds, he begins to suspect that the hotel might be more than it seems and there may be a connection between it and the peculiar book. As he delves deeper into the mystery, Wilfred realizes that the strangeness he has been experiencing didn't just follow him from England but may actually somehow be related to the hotel. Was it a coincidence?

When he meets Roland, a fellow guest with a passion for the paranormal, they set out to uncover the truth.

But they soon realize that they are dealing with something powerful and potentially evil, that Wilfred's decision to come to the hotel may not have been entirely his own, and that something mysterious lurks beneath the sprawling structure that may hold the answers they seek.

Can they solve the mystery before it consumes them, or will they succumb to the same fate as the hotel's previous victims? Even as he is warned of the potentially dangerous and evil forces at play, he knows he must find the answers.

With the help of Roland, Wilfred sets out to uncover the truth behind his wife's death, a book's mysterious power, and the weird connection to the enigmatic Blackstone hotel.

Will he be able to solve the mystery before it consumes him?
