They were soldiers recruited by an evil faction of the US government called Charming 6. Programed to kill prominent public figures with brain washing and mind-altering drugs, as a side effect, several test subjects developed latent psychic powers. One of them developed quite faster and more powerfully than the others. His name was Ricardo "Dick" Sanchez. The deadliest psychic in the world. Dick was already highly trained, having served in all three major branches of the military and had a top-secret rank when he met Gloria Redding, a stunning redhead who was his military equal in every way. A relationship developed but they were stuck inside Charming 6. Through heavy experimentation combined with a near death experience opened an ability in Dick to make people do his bidding. Gloria, Dick learned, was an empath and could read thoughts. Forming a small group consisting himself, Gloria, Larry Feldman, Navy sniper, Matt O'Donnell, Navy pilot, Big "E," Ernst Kazenbogen, Navy SEAL, and Vinnie Spinelli, Navy sailor, Sanchez broke his friends out of the labs. Soon, many of the group began to experience their own latent powers developing. Larry could teleport himself he discovered accidentally, Gloria could read thoughts and feelings, Big "E," could talk to animals, and Vinnie's precognition grew far stronger. After relocating everyone to his home city of San Francisco, in the Haight Ashbury district, Sanchez's old Victorian house become the team's new HQ. However, they were still being hunted by Charming 6, so in the grand tradition of the 60's, Dick decided to start a psychedelic rock band. Now Dick, Gloria, Larry, Big "E," Vinnie, and Matt, former soldiers and mind-control experiment escapees, play in the Sirens, a groovy group of long-haired rockers. Taking acid and playing music is both their cover and a way to break their programing. As well as entertaining the good citizens of San Francisco, Team Acid rises to the occasion and fights the evil forces of Charming 6 and other otherworldly, nefarious beings that are bent on global destruction from time to time. Dick Sanchez and his highly trained team are a family at heart, but they are also earth's last defense against the powers that be, bent against the human race.
