THIS BOOK WILL HELP YOU LIVE A HEALTHIER LIFE!

People do not know how to nourish or heal themselves physically or spiritually. As a result, they lack energy for living and creativity. The secret of a serene, peaceful, happy and joyful life is being in harmony with the laws of nature - both physical and spiritual.

To be as healthy as possible, the wise man intervenes as little as possible. He lets things take their natural course. In the end, life always reasserts its right and wins every time. The modern miracle worker or expert concentrates on the machine and disease rather than on the person; and tends to disregard the mind in the treatment of the body and vice versa, so that the eventual healing is often partial, unsatisfactory and sometimes not permanent.
Refreshingly, one simple but highly concentrated act may be enough to restore or maintain a person's health. Physical health and harmony with the laws of nature and the world around us are completely interdependent. What we have tried to do in this book therefore is to unravel this interdependency as simply as possible to enable the lay person access and optimize it for life-long health and vitality.

HEALTH VS FITNESS
It is gratifying for those who are 40 years and above to note that health or fitness is ageless! One can be fit and healthy at any age. Even at 100 years, one can still be fit and healthy. Everything depends on lifestyle choices. Good nutrition and an active life are two crucial choices one must make to remain healthy and fit. Other important lifestyle choices include adequate restful sleep, good stress management, drinking alcohol moderately (if at all), abstaining from smoking, wearing of seat-belts, good personal hygiene, regular medical checkups and good interpersonal relationship.

Fitness only looks at the physical aspect of health but health encompasses more: physical, mental, spiritual and social wellbeing. Millions of people walking the streets are already dead and don't know it. For most of these people, the epitaph on their graves should read: "Died at thirty, buried at sixty" Over 95% of people we see on the street cannot pass minimum physical fitness test but most would be considered healthy because they are going about doing their normal duties that impact positively on society. While it is true that most human beings want to have excellent health from day to day and from year to year "till death do us part", very few (less than 1%) actually take necessary steps to undertake the lifestyle changes that protect health.

The book is indeed a compendium of scientific evidence-based principles that will serve as a practical guide, personal mentor and reference on nutrition for individuals, health practitioners, communities and institutions to help, prevent and control both communicable and non-communicable diseases.
