The Jarnots know history repeats itself better than any other family.
In Genealogy of Memory, Madison Jarnot explores her family's past and her childhood in an attempt to stop the cycle, putting words to everything that was left unsaid. Genealogy of Memory is about understanding what it means to have survived and learning what it means to live. Author BioMadison Jarnot is a junior creative and professional writing and political science dual major at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. She writes creative nonfiction, poetry, fiction, and reportage, but spends most of her time eating, sleeping, breathing, and editing news. Madison lives in Pittsburgh with her family and three dogs. She serves as the editor-in-chief of Pitt-Greensburg's campus newspaper, The Insider.
She received the University's Ida B. Wells award in 2019 for her coverage of Pitt's unionization efforts. She was the first freshman to win the award. In spring 2020, she won the Joan Didion award for her creative nonfiction. In 2021, she won the Ida B. Wells and Joan Didion awards again for her editorial work at The Insider and this chapbook, respectively. Her writing has been published in the campus literary magazine, Pendulum. This is her first chapbook.| Author: Madison Jarnot |
