PRISONERS IN POWER and Other Stories

Sin and forgiveness are two words that reverberate constantly in the affairs of mankind. Being weak in spirit, man is engulfed in blemishes like the cobweb that gathers not only its preys but the daily dust from the environment until it becomes thick like a man-made cage. As we journey from birth to our death point, we collect blemishes due to our imperfection, but the persistent longing deep in our souls to enter the kingdom of God where true peace reins supreme remains like a shadow. This inner desire continues to drive man into the portal of mercy on bended knees and humble condition of the soul. Can the laws of Creation be set aside to accommodate our follies? The Holy book says it, with emphasis too: "that whatsoever a man sows, that he shall reap" It also says that the mercy of the Lord does not come to an end but renewed every day. Yes, truly the mercy of the Lord does not come to an end but it is for those who truly realizes that they have sinned; that they have gone astray and sincerely desires a return to the presence of God. The prodigal son realized his mistakes after passing through bad situation. Of course that realization did not come automatically to him. First his resources got exhausted. He thought he could manage life because he was still trapped in the shame of his willful actions. The battle with his conscience dragged on and on until he realized that even the pig he was employed to feed had better opportunity than he had. Then in the tumult wave that came out of his mental agony, he regretted his waywardness and hoped to go back home even as a servant. With such realization ever occur in the lives of our citizens who daily are trapped in the miasma of their own mistakes because of bad leadership? It terrifies the heart of a thinking man to wonder the direction the world is heading to, starting with our nation. It is sincerely hoed that this will direct a searching soul to the right pathway.
