Kingdoms fall and are yet born again. History fades and is forgotten. Knowledge is burned and the memory of it is lost. And then who writes history as it was written? Those in whose mind there is opinion and prejudices. And when there is deadly motive, who can be the preventer of it? Those who have survived? They are slaves. However, it is possible that those thought to be righteous, but not so righteous may have the power to go back to see the truth to rewrite the truth as it rightfully happened.
However, how can you mend something that no longer exists? How can you see something that has been lost in Time Lore? For when one timeline appears the first is displaced and can never be regained. Though what was lost can be restored, but with a different ending. Tempestuous and unpredictable are the workings of time, terrible, frightening, and unending are its works. As though it were malicious in nature. But in truth it is just a force like other forces untamable unstoppable, unreasonable, dispassionate, impartial. And with each new civilized age, they believe they are the first because there is no remembrance of those extinct. There is no one to recall. So much time has passed that not even their bones can be found.
I am time, and I can tell you. Many have come before you, of the Earth. And those beyond your universe seek your lives. All their efforts are bent on it. They wait for the convergence and for you to forget. I, however, have planted a seed of knowledge that will fester in the Order in the hopes that life can continue.
Time Lore installment one follows the story of two young people from different worlds who have been thrust together by simple circumstances. As they encounter hardship, love, and mystery they uncover a truth hidden deep within a forgotten civilization. The Order found Cypress and she found Talon. The Order thought they knew all the truth about the Ancients, but they were wrong. They only knew the beginning; only what Time had told them. Soon they would be tested as they hadn't been before, and not by the war looming off in the not-so-distant future, but a war they did not see coming, lurking in the present.
Gaven Tucker delivers a fascinating scientific explanation for power and a more realistic portrayal of the fantasy genre while not betraying its more fundamental traits such as worldbuilding and fantastic creatures.
A pleasure to read. A heavy-on-mystery plot in the fantasy portrait with a believable scientific explanation weaved into an integral part of this time-traveling world other than magic or mutation with the same texture and emotion of a fantastic adventure. Gaven delves deep into the psychological effects of being a person whose circumstances heavily dictate which path he/she may take, and how loss can consume a righteous person. However, also, that all is not lost to such a path.
