Kidney diseases today are becoming more and more common. According to the figures released by the World Kidney Day, the number of people with kidney-related diseases has increased by 300 percent over the last 40 years. Over 13 percent of all people in the US are suffering from kidney disease. There are about 325,000 individuals who have been diagnosed with end-stage renal disease in the US (as of 2010). The main reasons for kidney failure are diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. The reason people really need to be more proactive about their health is that the earlier the disease is diagnosed, the better the prognosis.
