In August of 1995, a group of recent high school graduates from St. Albans, West Virginia set out on a journey. Finding their inspiration in Jack Kerouac's On the Road, the friends hope to head west. It's to be a two-week sojourn during which they say 'goodbye' to youth and welcome the onset of adulthood. Alas, the universe has other plans. Harold, Chloe, Max, and Becky have to settle for a weeklong walkabout among the hills of West Virginia, chaperoned by local philosopher, rebel, and weed dealer-Paul. Along the way, they find love and hope. Most of all, they have a great time and discover that the journey is more important than the destination when you're runnin' the Republic.
