I dare say that there is a whole lot of confusion, misunderstanding and misinterpretation of the Scriptures, especially the book of Revelation with particular reference to Rev. 13: 14-17 which speaks about the image, the mark, the name and the number of the beast. To understand of these concepts, especially the number of the beast, the Bible calls for wisdom. The key to understanding the Scriptures is based on the contextual, historical, literal, symbolical, prophetical and spiritual analysis of operative words and precepts, Isa. 28:10. Above all, prayer for God's revelation in making deductions is of paramount importance. Rev. 13:18 calls for wisdom in the interpretation of the number of the beast which it says is the number of a man. That number is 666. God Himself is wisdom. His wisdom is buried in the Scriptures. Committed search through the Bible and dedicational prayers are the essential instruments that will facilitate the required wisdom for the calculation of the number of the beast.
This book aims at defining the terms - image, name, mark and number with the view to integrating their literal meanings and symbolical significance in attempt to calculate the number of the beast. While doing so, their historical, contextual and spiritual dimensions should form the background basis. Interpretations and deductions should be based on the Scriptures. Extra biblical references may just be misleading. Several writings, opinions, interpretations, articles and analytical studies from various sources have been quoted (some copied verbatim), with due acknowledgment, for the purpose of argument.
The reader is encouraged to read the quoted bible verses.
