Volume 2 of Second Chances delves into the story of Nadia and Rene's developing relationship at the Sorbonne in Paris. The female perspective is front and center, as Lynn and her fiancee Celeste help Nadia to expose Rene's hidden duplicity and deal with the subsequent loss of her love connection.

Later, Nadia finds the courage to face her own kidnapping at the hands of a previous adversary, and she and her heroic mother Anna must work together to try to bring him to justice. The ransom money provided by Rene's father, Pierre, has made Anna feel indebted to him, and Pierre soon takes advantage of her vulnerability to his advances.
