This is the second of three books addressing the effects of charity and pride on our personal and social health.

This book focuses on our motivations, first developing a general model of motivations, then applying this model to the various aspects of our lives. In this application we discover the sharp contrast between the good-seeking motivation, which requires substantial effort on our part, but that always helps us to learn, grow, and progress, and the pleasure-seeking motivation, which is damaging to our health, and makes it impossible to progress, and to feel fully happy.

In this application we also develop clear definitions for the words charity and pride, and find out just how powerful and productive charity is as a motivator, and how destructive pride is to our intellectual, spiritual, and physical health and well-being.
