'The Medics of Trinity College, Dublin in the 1960's is the brainchild of John Brock-Utne and his medical student colleagues who graduated from Trinity's School of Physic in 1968. Stirred by their reminiscences of life at Trinity and spurred on by the 2009 publication of life at Trinity seen through the eyes of Arts faculty undergraduates, entitled Trinity Tales: Trinity College Dublin in the Sixties, it was time to produce an account of TCD from a medical undergraduate's perspective. This modest volume is the efforts of long-term memory recall carefully filtered through decades of quality claret - 'the ultimate test of propriety' to quote one contributor - primarily comes from the medical graduates of 1968, yet it includes some offerings from the graduates of the years fore and aft: truly, a broad and grand appraisal of a decade at the science end of Trinity. Over the past half-century we have been dispersed to all six the habitable continents, working in more than 25 countries. All of us have enjoyed a mostly fortunate and possibly fulsome life, and some have also achieved stardom in ways other than in medicine, as international musicians, missionaries, academicians, authors of medical textbooks and other non-medical books; even one of us (it is said) has climbed Everest! Indeed, we are an incredibly special group of Trinity graduates.
