The day before the wedding I could hardly breathe. Fear and anger settled in my stomach. I spent the whole afternoon hiding in the library, caressing the skin on the back of those books that I would never touch again. I leaned against the shelves and wished I could run away, I wished I could shout out loud to those who chose that destiny for me.
I looked around the dark corners of the library. When my twin sister, Astraia, and I were little, they told us the same terrible story as other children: "Demons are made of shadow. Do not look at the shadows for long, because a demon could see you. For us it was even more horrible, since we used to see the victims of demonic attacks, some were screaming, others were speechless with madness. Their families dragged them across the hall and begged Father to use his Hermetic arts to heal them.
Once in a while he could facilitate their aggravation, regardless of whether it was only a tad. However there was no solution for the franticness instigated by evil presences.
