conveyor belt: a poetry chapbook

Being a lesbian and living in a patriarchal society means being oppressed for both your sexuality and your gender. This is a poetry chapbook about my personal struggles with identity and the loneliness that comes from being different, that also critiques the hierarchical, oppressive state we currently live in.

It is raw, confessional, and personal free verse that seeks to encourage solidarity and cultivate pride. It delves into themes including the social conditioning of women, consumerism, and conformity. The societal values that seek to exclude certain groups are critiqued. These pieces resonate with anyone who feels like a piece for a different puzzle.

This chapbook is relatable, genuine, and thought-provoking. It is feminist, queer, and unabashedly in favor of LGBTQ rights, women's liberation, and equality for all marginalized identities. While focused on issues pertinent to LGBTQ issues, lesbian issues, women's issues and the entanglement between gender-based and sexuality-based oppression, interpretations of this poetry can extend beyond that.
