Growing Up In The Fifties

As the world turns and sand passes through the hourglass, things around us change! The fifties were a perfect time to be a teenager. Families believed in God and church attendance was a weekly affair. Men were proud to serve in the military and households had at least one automobile, and many had two. Neighbors trusted each other and did not lock their doors at night. A few homes had a black and white television set but twenty-four-hour cable news did not exist. Most young people had not experienced drugs, and the biggest crime was smoking cigarettes, drinking beer, and stealing hubcaps or watermelons.

Then technology invaded our lifestyle and teenagers became obsessed with cell phones and letter and note writing gave way to texting and emails. Our lifestyle became so fast-paced that it makes me want to yell, "STOP THE WORLD AND LET ME OFF." I hope you enjoy reading my memories of that time period.
