The king is dead. Assassinated. Murdered in cold blood.

And the royal guards think I'm next.

It's only been thirty-six hours since my wedding ended in gunshots. And now here I am, ready to ascend the throne. To take up my grandfather's legacy as King of Herefirth.

It's my duty to wear the crown, to produce an heir, and keep the people calm. But how can I relax with the lingering threat against my life?

Worse, whoever is trying to steal the crown is after my new bride, too.

I made a vow to keep her safe. To love her and cherish her always.

Just as I made a pledge to my country that I would lead them.
