Kate Adams has had her share of interesting experiences since coming to work for Trisail Tourism. Though she started out working on a Florida island, the company soon moved her to the mountains of Tennessee for the autumn and winter seasons. Now, she finds herself stuck at Christmas Lodge with her coworker and love interest, Blake Morris. Lenore, their difficult boss, has them working 14-hour shifts. She hates happiness and anything resembling love.

After Christmas, they are transferred to Carmisa Island in south Florida. Blake's parents reveal a secret linking the family to the island that will soon change everything for the two of them. While Kate and Blake are in the mood to celebrate their tropical transfer and their blossoming relationship, someone on the island is conspiring against them, interrupting their joy by framing Blake for attempted murder.

Though Carmisa Island is as picturesque as a calendar, Kate finds herself homesick for Tressle Island, where she and Blake first met and where her career began. Kate longs for a chance at a new life with Blake, but with the odds stacked against them, she is beginning to wonder if that will ever be possible.
