The death of her sister has torn Darcy's world apart, so one fateful day she makes a decision that will change her life. In order to try to achieve this Darcy sets out on an epic adventure in to the mystical realm of H ven where she meets a host of eccentric characters, finds herself embroiled in a quest to find the mythical Lord Vita and help him defeat the realm's returning ruler Lord Mortimer, bringer of death and destruction, and learns that this quest and her own are linked in ways she could never have imagined.

Through the central character of Darcy Patten, an unapologetically strong girl on the cusp of adulthood, the reader is taken on an epic journey through a fantastical realm where only she can save the world from impending doom. However, as well as a tale of adventure and friendship, the book is also a deeper examination of grief which culminates in the revelation that, far from something to be afraid of, Death is a natural part of life.
