When Chris' mistress dies, Chris is left in dire straights. She's the only one left to take care of the mistress's young girls, and her contract is transferred to Jack Slade, a rotten man who wants to sell her out as a whore. Chris comes from no family and doesn't have a penny to her name. Dylon Clay takes pity and rescues Chris and the girls from Slade's hands, but it costs him everything in the process.
