When Madoc, son of Mandan war chief, Owaniah, is kidnapped and dragged to the windswept plains of 13th century North America, his captor plans to trade him to a Plains Indian tribe.

But no one wants a blue-eyed witch boy, not even as a slave. Thus, the seven-year-old is abandoned in a hostile environment where his surprising courage changes everything.

Madoc's dreams transport him to the Nunnupe Realm where it is foretold, he will lead the people to freedom.

While living with the Bison Chasers, the chief trades Madoc to a nomadic merchant who shows the boy kindness and compassion. These two unlikely companions have an amazing adventure as jaded old man and curious young brave travel towards Madoc's destiny.
