This is the true-life story of my childhood as a Sharecropper's daughter living on a plantation, as well as the trials and tribulations I faced as a single mother with no education. I overcame several adversities such as picking cotton as a young child and obtaining my GED at age 42. I want to share my story with the world, proving that anything is possible and that it is never too late to accomplish your goals. I was born in 1946 in Belzoni, Mississippi, where my family and I lived and worked on a plantation picking cotton. As a young Black child living on a plantation, I was deprived of an education. Most people do not realize how hard it was for a Black child to obtain an education in the 1940s - 1960s. I later moved to Oregon where I raised my children. They did not know I was illiterate. At the age of 42, I finally had the opportunity to go back to school and obtain my GED. I am blessed to be able to say that not only am I able to read and write; I'm able to write my own story in my own words. Thank you all for your support and for purchasing my book. I hope my story helps to inspire others to accomplish their goals.
